Only accessible by boat, the three-level lodge enjoys unspoiled views across the pristine waters of the bay.


On your arrival into Picton, 'the gateway to the South Island', make your way down to the waterfront. Here you will take a water taxi with the Cougar Line or Beachcomber Cruises or any other number of local water taxi companies in Picton. From there, you will be taken on a 30 minute scenic cruise through the Queen Charlotte Sound and up to the head of the Bay of Many Coves to Craglee Lodge. Here you will be met by Rosie and Steve George and their two friendly Labradors, Cedric and Roc. After a short amble up through beautiful native bush from the jetty, you will realise why you chose Craglee Lodge. You immediately feel embraced in the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the Lodge. If you are looking for a different or more exciting way to arrive, we can organize for you a flight on the Picton Floatplane service. This operates from Picton and Wellington.

Pods of bottle nosed dolphins

By day you can explore the bush surroundings down to the Queen Charlotte Track, voted by National Geographic as one of the “Best 25 new trips in the world for 2008”, and is the only chosen New Zealand adventure. For hikers or mountain bikers doing the Queen Charlotte Track, Craglee Lodge is only a 45 minute walk down from the track, where you can then soak your weary bones in a hot outdoor bath with a well-earned bottle of beer or glass of wine. In the evening experience the glow of an amber sunset from the comfort of the balcony or walk amongst the soft illumination created by the glow worms on one of our bush tracks. Water-based activities (such as) may give you the opportunity to see the magical marine wildlife the Marlborough Sounds are known for, including whales and bottle-nosed dolphins. Fishing...

Look out for pods of bottle nosed dolphins, Orca (killer whales) Other activities include walking, sea kayaking, diving, Eco Tours, swimming, taking a row boat out, sailing, mountain biking or a float plane flight.
